Town of Manistee

Manistee is a small laid back community on the shores of lake michigan. It was established primarily as a logging community near the end of the Victorian era and much of the architecture still remains the same. In its prime, Manistee had more millionaires per capita than anywhere else in the united states.
The beach areas are the major attractions, but if you wish to explore the town you will find many historic Establishments, such as the pink fire house, the Vogue theatre, and the great Ramsdell theatre, where James Earl Jones got his start in acting. Great local eats include A&W, House of Flavors and several mom and pop restaurants. The downtown strip has many small shops that you may enjoy such as antique shops, a camera store and Snyders shoes or you can head down to the river walk and check out the fishing boats, sailboats and freighters heading to and from lake Michigan.
Manistee has miles and miles of beaches and sand dunes. You can swim, climb or tan. Its all up to you. There are also many parks if you'd like to get to know the national forests. You can walk to and from the bars, the beaches and the wedding. there is also the dial-a-ride bus that will drop you off and pick you up for next to nothing.

Dial A Ride Info

Dial A Ride is a bus pickup/drop off service in Manistee that is like a cab operating from 12pm-6pm but more like a bus that picks up other people too. This would be the major form of transportation however the town is small so most things are in walking distance. Pat's family has a nice size collection of bikes that will be available for use as well.
